"WE ARE NOT CONSULTANTS. WE ARE SENSEIS."

Lean Conversions require a lot of hard work. The financial results are amazing and the path to these results is difficult and risky. If you pursue this path, you will need experienced guidance. Simpler's experience base is unmatched.

We call ourselves "senseis" rather than consultants. The word "sensei" is Japanese for coach or teacher. We have strong feelings that our role is to coach and develop our clients' people, to help them learn by doing. The senseis on our team share several critical but rare attributes:

  • WE HAVE BEEN IN OUR CLIENTS SHOES: We have had operations management roles with P&L responsibility during a Lean Conversion at companies like Jake Brake, Danaher, HON and Boeing.

  • WE LEARNED TPS FROM THE PEOPLE THAT DEVELOPED IT: We have had more than 12 years of sensei coaching from members of the original Toyota Autonomous Study Group (the original place where TPS originated and was developed at Toyota).

  • WE HAVE CREATED BOTTOM-LINE SUCCESS: We have personally succeeded at creating bottom-line results from the Lean Conversions we led before becoming consultants.

  • WE UNDERSTAND THE CHANGE MANAGEMENT ISSUES: People who have successfully led a Lean Conversion understand that the riskiest and most difficult part of the path are the change management issues that are a natural part of this process. At these difficult points, you'll be glad we've been there.

  • WE ARE COMMITTED TO ELIMINATING OUR ROLE: Simpler has attracted and selected people who have the highest level of integrity and commitment to our clients' success. We want to be in a sensei role - coaching and developing, building high levels of trust with uncommon candor and mutual respect. We measure performance, we show how, we develop people.
