Civil Engineering Group and NBC Training

One of the areas identified at the CEG Deployment Offsite was that of Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare Training. As with many training programs on the Center it was not uncommon to see a class being conducted with less than 100% of the allocated seats being full. The team identified that the original process took 30 steps but that after a careful review that it could be done in 12 or a saving of 60%.They were also able to reduce flow time by 46% and touch time by 33%.

Mr Ken Golyshko the Simpler consultant to the Wing said, “They have a utilization rate of 80% and run some classes with only 1/3 of the seats filled. Once they get to 100% and put a stop to the NO Shows, there will be a dollar savings with the trainer’s time, classroom utilization, and less classes will need to be held. They have also identified large savings that will filter down to the 15-20 schedulers currently required multiple times within the process. With a reduction of 402 minutes times 13 classes per quarter times 4 times a year equals 348.4 hours of touch time each year. This times $125 per hour equals a savings of $43550.00 in their touch time alone.
